I am a family physician.
I am embarking on a type of practice that is especially and particularly geared toward total personal patient care.
While I practice evidence -based medical care, I also am open to discussing your own personal ideas of health maintenance.
I am a sixth-generation resident of Saint David.
I was born in the old Benson Hospital (where the library stands today) and grew up on the land my family has farmed for generations. I still farm four acres adjacent to that original homestead—growing alfalfa and tending the pecan trees my grandfather planted in 1929.
Carter Mayberry, MD
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Animal Sciences in 1986, then earned my medical degree also at U of A in 1991. I completed my family medicine residency in Illinois and Colorado before spending four formative years practicing on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation. That time shaped both my medical skills and my perspective. I learned from a wide range of patient experiences and developed a lasting respect for cultural humility.
Since 1998, I have worked in the Benson Hospital and various clinics, including my last position at Chiricahua Community Health Center.
I’m married to Faye, my high school sweetheart and the love of my life. Together, Faye and I have raised four children, and we are blessed with ten grandchildren. After a heroic battle with depression, our son Ashton died by suicide in 2014.
That loss changed our lives. With the grace of God, the support of many, and the passage of time, we’ve experienced deep healing.
On a personal level, Faye and I enjoy RV camping and hiking.
And I personally enjoy mountain bike rides in the hills near Saint David.
Faye and I served two full-time missions for our church—first in Peru and then in New Zealand—where we helped oversee the healthcare of thousands of missionaries.
I have been practicing medicine for over 30
years. I still consider it a privilege.
This community raised me.
I have deep roots here.
I’m grateful for the chance to give back.
